I'm writing this from within Mandriva 2009 RC1 on the Live CD.
I think it's an amazing distro, above all because it gets me wi-fi WEP connected easily, a feat still beyond Ubuntu's abilities.
I was doubting whether it would still work when I saw they'd switched from MadWiFi...
And sound works connected by USB to my JVC receiver, something usually requiring endless messing with settings.
Now my one concern is getting it on the hard drive. I've had Neosmart calling GRUB from the start of the Linux partition, but that entry will have to be removed and I suppose I'd best scrub all the Ubuntu stuff that's there now.
I do worry because I once saw a Sabayon release that worked splendidly from Live DVD make my drive unable to boot into Win XP x64. I've a feeling that Live CDs give a false sense of security prior to installation.
